We welcome in 2008 with cheers and songs, clinking glasses, smiling faces, and a positive outlook of our place in the year to come.
Today was to start out just as we had left off early this morning when we climbed between the sheets with the warmth of alcohol still running through out veins, for we are those fortunate enough to have been in a situation of safe surroundings.
Unfortunately, someone very close to my beloved boyfriend wasn't as lucky.
Although details are still unknown and the TV hasn't been able to offer any more than a fifteen second spot on the situation that occurred around 2:45 this morning, my beloved boyfriend has lost a loved one.
Why?
Maybe for some cash? Maybe for some electronics? Maybe for the possibility of some jewelry? We aren't yet sure.
Two gunshots and a couple hours later, the selfishness of two men went from incredible to unmeasurable.
On a day when so many are looking so fondly at their future, one life ended so abruptly.
Now all we can do is stand back in awe and shock over what one person can take from another in the blink of an eye for nothing more than some material possessions.
